For my sister:
Feb. 27th, 2002 05:06 amCINCINNATI -- It's the great escape.
A cow just an hour from death at a Cincinnati slaughterhouse was able to hurdle a six foot fence and escape into the thick underbrush of a city park.
The determined bovine eluded searchers for 11 days.
Cattle feed and other cows were used to lure the heifer out of the woods.
An S-P-C-A officer shot her with a tranquilizer dart.
It wasn't enough to stop her from bolting again, but it did slow her down enough so she could be lassooed.
The 12-hundred pound Charolais is being held at a nearby farm, where she'll be able to live out the rest of her natural life.
