My sister wrote about this in her journal, so I figured what the hell, might as well too. At least I'd be writing something and these days I go far too long between entries.
Yesterday, Heathy, Mum and I went to see ET. I was a little worried that due to the 'never seen before footage' and 'digitally enhanced'-ness, it would turn into a fiasco akin to Star Wars, but aside from some scenes I didn't quite recall seeing back in '82 (ET playing in the bathtub while Elliott was on the phone, and a very scary riot-type scene as the mother scoured the neighborhood for her kids on Hallowe'en) but enjoyed nonetheless, and ET looking a little more agile than I remembered, it was very enjoyable. I was pretty giddy through the first little bit, reliving my youth, and giggled quite a bit every time ET made his little alien noises (especially after my sister whispered 'he sounds just like Kim-yo!' (our very fat old cat who grunts a lot) I was trying very hard not to let my sister see me cry when ET was dying, and when he was saying goodbye, but now that I know she cried too, it's not so bad :)
Another thing Heathy pointed out that made me laugh - when ET says goodbye to Gerty (aka Drew Barrymore) he tells her to 'be good' - guess that advice didn't take too well.
