I'd move to Ottawa just to vote for him!
Jun. 15th, 2004 05:12 amEd Broadbent has challenged his Conservative opponent in Ottawa Centre to a rap-off.
The written challenge to Mike Murphy begins "Yo Mike!"
It was issued yesterday under Broadbent's tongue-in-cheek stage name "Rapper Ed-to-the-B-Bop-Bent."
It followed the Conservative Party of Canada's complaint that it considers Broadbent's rap video on his website to be the equivalent of free bling bling.
The Conservatives have complained to Elections Canada that the one-minute spoof on Ed as a rapper is in violation of election law.
They don't mind the former New Democrat leader rapping that "the N-D-P train is leaving the station and is the social conscience of the nation."
Its complaint is the video was donated by the production company that made it and exceeds the one-thousand dollar limit on campaign contributions.
A Broadbent spokesman says the Conservatives don't know how to have fun.
