I hate days like this. The wife of one of our city councillors died yesterday. Being the first one to hit the fax machine after the obit came in, I was the lucky contestant chosen to write up the stories. Oh happy day. I hate writing death stories, I hate reading death stories. The longer I work here the more calous I become. I might not feel so bad about it if it was someone I didn't know. Step into any smal-ish newsroom on a day when something tragic happens and you'll see the darkest aspects of humanity. I swear, when I go to hell, it will be entirely because of my career choice.
