So when do I get paid?
Jun. 11th, 2003 11:14 amIn first year university, the girls on my floor gave me the award for Most Likely to Become a Professional Crank Caller. I am fulfilling my destiny today.
There's an old steam train going through town today (from London to Windsor, not stopping, just rolling right through) We've been getting calls all morning from people wondering when it's going, why it's not stopping, etc. Stephanie, our *cough* brilliant reporter, has been fielding most of the calls for the last hour. As her frustration level was about ready to go into the danger zone, I decided to have a little fun with her. Into the booth I go, dial up the newsroom number...
Stephanie: CFCO CKSY Newsroom, can I help you?
Me (in my lovely old Greek lady voice): Yes...there is train coming to Chatham...where it is?
S: It's going to be passing through this afternoon.
Me: This afternoon...when it go?
S: Sometime around 1 o'clock.
Me: It stop?
S: No, it's not stopping, it's just going through town.
Me: Where it is?
S: It'll be going along the CP tracks.
Me: But it no stop?
S: No, it's not stopping.
Me: Why it no stop?
S: Well, because...it's just passing through.
Me: But why?
S: I'm not sure ma'am.
Me: Where it go?
S: along the CP tracks.
Me: To Chatham?
S: No, to Windsor, it's just passing through.
Me: But no stop.
S: That's right.
Me: Is the train.
S: Yes, the train is going through.
Me: But no stop.
S: No.
Me: to Windsor...
S: Yes. Going to Windsor.
Me: Ahh....how long it stay in Chatham?
S: It's not stopping! It's going straight from London to Windsor and not stopping anywhere.
Me: Thank you darling.
Stephanie slams the phone down, and there is much laughter from other newsies as Stephanie launches into a rant about how stupid this fucking woman is, does she not understand English, etc. I come out of the booth laughing my ass off and say "Why the train no stop?" She just about killed me :D My day has been made.
