Games day seems to have gone pretty well. Played some games, ate a hell of a lot of food, met some cool people. A couple of them sort of dismissed me as irrelevant and not worth the effort to get to know - I don't live in Toronto, I'm not one of 'them'...oh well. I'm not really all broken up about it. But there were others who seemed to accept me and we had a great time. I wish I could come back more often and play with them.
Today, of course, is Father's Day. Heathy and Marshie are coming over around noon for lunch (dear lord, no more food!), then Seamus and I will hit the road and head back to Chatham.
Heathy took some new pictures of me yesterday as well with my new curly hair, so it shouldn't be too long before I have a new user icon. Aren't you all the lucky ones to see me in my curly glory! *gag*

Eep! I didn't notice people being dismissive. I hope I wasn't one of them. :/ If so, I didn't mean to be. I didn't even know you were from Chatham! (I'm originally from Windsor, actually. Well, I was born in Ottawa, but grew up in Windsor. Whatever; I'm rambling.)

Anyway, it was great to meet you! I'm glad that you had fun. You're welcome to come to any of our events you like. [livejournal.com profile] clawfoot has games days at her place sometimes, which is in Waterloo. It's not a ton closer, but it's a wee bit closer. And thanks for friending me -- I actually noticed when I was just about to go try to mine [livejournal.com profile] kadenza's friends list to find your journal! ;)

Oh no, you were one of the coolest people there! And it probably wasn't anything intentional or malicious anyway, just me being overly sensitive. And besides, it's not like I was being very extroverted myself. I tend to be a wee bit shy with new people.
Yes indeedy I'm from Chatham - went to university in Windsor too. I'm a southwestern Ontario-living fool! I didn't know you were from/lived down here too until I read your bio (and yes, I read the whole thing!) And I found you by going to Heathy's friends list too :D (all I could remember about your username was _lj)

Phew! :) I don't think it was intentional either. That group of folks can be... odd, socially. :) But I really doubt anybody meant anything by it.

Yeah, [livejournal.com profile] lady_usher is from Windsor too. :) We reminisce about it on occasion. It's fun. Windsor was a great place to grow up, strangely. I don't know what going to school there would have been like (I went to Queen's), but I can say that I'm glad I don't live there now. That's mostly because I can't imagine still living that close to my parents, though.

It seems a lot of you went to Queens - kinda scary ;) You're like a cult! But school in Windsor was a heck of a lot of fun.

*hehe* Did a lot of us? [livejournal.com profile] okoshun and I did -- we met there. I know that [livejournal.com profile] ficbot did also. I'm not sure who else. I'm so bad at details.

What was the best part of going to school in Windsor?

Well, my program was really good (although completely useless - I took theatre), had a lot of fun with my friends (although I've lost touch with most of them), living in residence definitely helped me grow as a person. Plus it was far enough away from home that I could feel independant.

That's pretty much what Queen's was like for me, bring from Windsor. It was about as far as I could go without my parents going overboard and freaking out because I was "so" far, plus I had a sister there, which comforted their fears a bit, yet it was far enough that they couldn't just pop by and I was on my own and independent. The growth aspect of living in residence was amazing, and living with friends and without friends on my own thereafter. I almost always recommend to people that they go away to school, just for the social experience of it.

I was just as much an outsider - all the way from another country! *giggle*

I know I didn't talk to you much at all, but if I remember right, we never really played the same games..
