Ever have one of those days when you wake up in a bad mood? That's me today. Woke up crabby, came to work crabby, dealing with my often moronic co-host increases the crabbiness...I have no patience for anyone today.
Went to Canadian Tire last night to pick up an air mattress patching kit, and fixed up my bed. It's not perfect though - I don't know if there's another small hole somewhere or if I'm not a very good patcher, but the mattress still needed to be re-inflated this morning. It wasn't that bad, but definitely softer than it should be. Stupid beds, why are they so damn expensive? Stupid radio, why does it pay so little? Stupid me for deciding I'd rather have a career I love instead of one that pays.
Mum comes tomorrow. My place still needs a thorough cleaning - the bathroom needs a lot of work, have to take out the garbage, clean the litter, and vacuum the entire apartment. Oh yeah, and have to find a place to store Matt's girly magazines. I don't care about them, but Mum will.
On a brighter note, Mike said he'd stop by on his way into work and pick me up a french vanilla coffee from Tim's. I certainly need it. I've been sleeping like crap this week - getting to bed late (or at least falling asleep late,) waking up frequently during the night, and feeling downright awful when my alarm goes off.

The two things that helps me most in these situations:

1. Sleep.
2. Exercise.

The thing that makes it worst for me in these situations:

1. Coffee.

That's just me, though, and I take my own advice very poorly. :) But exercise especially does wonders for me both in helping me sleep and in helping my mood.

And I hear you about air mattresses. We have a lot of guests crash at our place, and we ALWAYS have air mattress trouble. It sucks, because they really are expensive. Our cats often do a real number on them, to boot.

Yeah, I know I need more exercise. It's just a matter of getting up enough energy to do something.

Yeah. It's easier for me because my exercise is biking to and from work, so I can play this mental game where I can ignore the existence of public transit and the car and keep telling myself that I have to get to work, so I don't have a choice.

Yeah, I've been wanting to get a bike so I can ride to work too. That's one of my problems - there are no situations where I'm forced to walk or bike somewhere, and if it's left entirely up to my mood or energy level, it usually doesn't happen.

You should check out some garage sales on the weekend and see what you can find! Having Mum with you might not hurt either (cha ching).

Getting the bike was actually [livejournal.com profile] okoshun's idea. We went out and bought a pair of el-cheapo bikes at Canadian Tire. *DO NOT DO THIS!* The bikes suck beyond all human comprehension. But that's beside the point. I wasn't all that super keen, but I thought it might be neat. I had no idea that I'd become like super biking addict man. I bike to and from work every day, and on the weekends when I have time and if it's nice I'll bike for up to seven or eight hours a day sometimes. My longest ride was about a month ago, when I went from our place in Toronto to [livejournal.com profile] clawfoot's place in Waterloo. It was 142km, involved an elevation of about 400 metres up the Niagara Escarpment, and took me 10.5 hours total, including breaks to stretch and eat. I haven't had a bike since I was a kid, but I'm loving every minute of it. (We only got them in like September or October, so it hasn't even been that long.) My promise to myself is that if I'm still at it in December, I'll ask everybody for gift certificates to the bike shop I go to for both Christmas and my birthday (which is in early Jan.), and then I'll buy myself a *nice* bike.

My next big trip: Windsor. I'll ride to Waterloo, crash at [livejournal.com profile] clawfoot's place, then I'll try to make London (have to figure out where to crash around there) the next day, and then the third day I'll aim for my parents' place in Windsor. I have no idea when this'll happen, because I have plans for almost every weekend for the next while, but I want to try it. I figure that essex county is so flat that the first leg (which I've done already) will be the hardest part.

Well hey, if you want to go the hour further, you're more than welcome to crash at my place!

Yay!! I'll have to sit down with maps and figure out if that would totally disproportionately split up the time / distance. I don't really know anyone in London, so that would save me a bunch of accomodations money, but on the other hand, "the hour further," may translate into a lot more than an hour on a bike. :)

That's true! And that's an hour by car on the 401 - going by bike and on the backroads will definitely take longer. But hey, my couch is your couch :D

Excellent, because my couch sucks. Can I borrow it next weekend for guests? Is it big enough for one of them to sleep on? ;)

Heh, sure! You come down, ask my roommate (cause it's technically his couch), and cart it away - just make sure you bring it back and make sure it's clean and stuff ;)

Hmm. Well, if I keep it over a Wednesday, the maid will clean it. :)

Of course, the likelihood of it getting totally ruined while attempting to actually get it into our place is pretty high. Most people with decently-sized furniture actually had to have the construction people come over with hoists and hoist everything up, then remove the livingroom window casings and slide it in through the window. I hate to think of what will happen if they move, given that our builder is done construction now. (I doubt that the other companies' builders will be as eager to help.)

We bought all IKEA stuff so that everything can be taken apart into leetle pieces to get it in and out.

I have a love/HATE relationship with Ikea, which is I think the natural state of anyone who tries to buy a whole whack of their furniture in one go, or who uses their delivery service (which is HELL). The worst was the furniture that is actually a whole bunch of separate pieces that are entirely separate orders. Some of them always go missing or are the wrong size, or whatever, and then you're in delivery-and-returns hell, deities-of-your-choosing help you.

What I hate is how they're always discontinuing lines of the stuff I buy - like my dishes! I have lovely white with blue flowery edged plates and stuff, but the year after I got them, they stopped carrying them, so now whenever I break my dishes (which happens more often than one might think), I'm screwed!

From: [identity profile] epi-lj.livejournal.com
That happens everywhere. I hate it too. Both our casual and our fine china are discontinued. There's a service you can sign up for through a website where they'll e-mail you reports of availability for your dishes. I dunno if they carry IKEA stuff, though. I could try to find it. They specialize in replacements of discontinued dishes.

buy two sets at the same time, put one away.

one plate breaks, replace it from the hidden set. another cup breaks, replace it from the hidden set. one bowl goes missing after a dinner party, you got that second set to replace it with.

by the time you work your way through replacing everything with the second set, you probably want a change in tableware anyway.

Yeah, I usually read before going to sleep, but didn't for some reason last night. But thanks for the tips!

I am miserable too so #@()*@#)$*@*)@#*$) it all to @#(*@()#* **ELL ;)

Sorry about your bed :(

Hiding girly magazines is something I know about ;)

Here are some suggestions

1) Put them in a box, put clothes on top nicely folded.Close box. Put box in his closet. Now you
both look organized.

2) Putting a box on a shelf in a closet under another box is a great idea. Noone snoops that
deeply ;)

3) If he has only a few put them between his mattresses

4) Throw them in my garage. I am already storing a door, a pantry and wood for people so
another box wouldnt hurt

DO Not hide them between or behind books on bookshelves or under polite magazines.
People go through that :)

Oh and BIG HUG you sound like you need it

As far as the magazines go, I'll just toss them in Matt's room. He keeps his door closed all the time to keep Seamus out, and my mum definitely will not be going in there. She's a bit of a snoop, but not that bad. She'd probably be afraid of finding much worse than a few Playboys anyway ;)

LOL

I am going to design a title for a fake magazine
something like Cartoon Crack Whores Club and leave it out to scare my mom away.

They are such opinionated snoops

They found a very few puppy hairs in the car and had things to say about that.

Um like the dog goes almost anywhere I do. It happens :)

Sorry I hate ranting
