My already lengthy reading list has just grown by two. In the last couple of weeks I've bought three books - Queen of Camelot by Nancy McKenzie; The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood; and Life of Pi by Yan Martel, and my dear friend [livejournal.com profile] aphraeldanae just brought me two more - Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman, and The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. And this is in addition to the half dozen books I borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] kadenza - who needs a library card?

Have you read The Life of Pi yet? I thought about reading that.

Not yet. Although I've heard great things about it, it's been pushed down the pile by all the borrowed books. I don't like having other people's books too long - I tend to forget they're not mine ;)

Yeah I know what you mean! I have a thing where I don't like reading books that have already been read by someone else, I like to open a pristine book, which can prove expensive!! Pi won a booker prize here which is quite prestigious.

Yeah, getting the Booker is actually the main reason it was added to my wish list in the first place. I'd never heard of it before then.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of anything Atwood. I took BA out of the library when it first came out, but they only let me renew it once because of the long list of people waiting for it, so I never finished it. (I was working very uneven hours then, so I wasn't reading as fast as I usually do)

[livejournal.com profile] darkmagess recently read The Blind Assassin. She'd probably love to talk about it when you're done. I read The Mists of Avalon when I was in sixth or seventh grade. I remember enjoying it greatly, although being overly fascinated by the one kind-of-naughty scene in it. ;)
