They can be! You have to go to the right places. okoshun goes to Melmira here in Toronto, which seems to have a wonderful selection of pretty bras that they will custom fit for you (it's amazing how much of a difference that alone made). Unfortunately, they're expensive. That appears to be the tripod of bras -- they can be any two of: pretty, comfortable, affordable. Not all three.
I believe that my friend ladythmpr as well as a few other Americans I know order theirs from a mail-order place in the U.S. that I also hear great things about. I can find out who they are if you're curious.
You know, there's no fundamental universal law that says that you *have to* wear a bra. (Hell, you're not even legally required to wear a top in Ontario.)
