Membership has its benefits
Sep. 7th, 2003 05:45 amI am now an official member of the Chatham Film Group. On Thursday or Friday, George and I were chatting during our entertainment break about the Toronto film festival, and George mentioned they tend to be more artsy films, and ones that we'll never likely get a chance to see. And I said "Now that's not necessarily true - the Chatham Film Group brings in movies that aren't in regular theatres for us artsy types." When I came into work this morning, there was a card from the CFG thanking me for the mention, a newsletter and a complimentary membership card. Woo woo! Of course, because I work here, I get free admission to CFG movies anyway, but still - it's a really nice gesture! Their first show this year is called "Spellbound" - a documentary about the national spelling bee.
kadenza would love it!
Mum and I are going to Stratford this afternoon (man it's going to be a long day) to see Pericles. I've heard it is by far the best show they have this season, and since Taming of the Shrew was so wonderful, I can't wait to see this one! I've never read Pericles, but I do know the gist of the story.
Mum was frantically trying to get a hold of me yesterday to see if I had the tickets (I do) but I was in Toronto visiting Terry. I know she and the rest of my family (well, Dad doesn't really care one way or the other, as long as I'm happy, which I am) aren't very impressed at all that I'm seeing him again, but so far it's going really well, and I am being very cautious. It was nice to spend some time with him, even for only a short time. He got hit by a fork lift at work this week and separated his shoulder. He is the most accident prone person I know, and most of his accidents aren't even by his own doing. But despite his injury, it was a very nice night - we made tacos, had some wine, and looked at the stars from his balcony. After such a stressful week, it was nice to just kick back and relax with him.
