It was *so* nice to sleep in this morning. I think it takes a morning person (and by morning, I mean my 2:30 kind of morning) to truly appreciate weekends. Being able to sleep until 7 or later is a luxury beyond words.
Not much going on this weekend. I went to see "Matchstick Men" with my friend Mike last night, and absolutely loved it. Nicholas Cage is a genius. I wasn't overly surprised at the ending, but still found it very enjoyable.
I think today I'm going to do the dishes (or maybe tomorrow..) - more than half of them are Matt's, and while I can't recall him washing his own dishes once since I moved in, I don't trust him to wash them properly, so I might as well do them all myself. Sometimes having a roommate sucks. I also think I'm going to re-arrange my bedroom. It's time for a slight change. And somehow, I think the bedroom will come before the dishes. ;)
Oh yeah, Seamus isn't eating, and it worries me. The last few days I haven't had to refill his dish once (and I know beyond a doubt that Matt's not feeding him) and he doesn't seem to want to eat unless I stand there and watch him. I don't understand it. He'll go and sniff the food, pick up one piece and drop it on the floor, and if I even start to leave the room, he comes running after me. I gotta tell you, getting up at 3am on a Saturday (well, I was awake anyway...) and having to stand in the kitchen for even 5 minutes watching a cat eat isn't much fun at all. Something must be done.

Bean gets like that sometimes, where he wants us to be present or he won't eat. We did it for a while, but now we just don't, and we figure that if he doesn't want to starve, he'll get over it. It mostly works.

*HOWEVER*, loss of appetite is a HUGE red flag in cats about something being medically wrong. If he eats really well while you're in the room but just wants company, then you're going to have to wean him off of that. However, if he's not eating that well even if you're there, then you should get him checked out.

Yeah I was really worried at first cause I know a loss of appetite is a bad sign. But I was trying to find even one other sign of something being wrong before taking him to the vet, and I'll be damned if I can find one. His ears aren't hot, his nose is fine, his coat is just as soft and silky as ever, he doesn't seem the slightest bit despondent, he's been chasing twist ties around all day, doesn't sleep more than usual...the food thing is the only thing that's wrong. And actually today he seems better than he has the last few days - the food in his dish was noticibly less than when I went out this morning. I figure I'll wait a couple more days and keep an eye on him before taking him in. As horrible as I feel for saying this, vet visits aren't cheap, and if he's just being moody, I would really prefer not to shell out cash I don't have.

Yeah, he seems to be back to normal now. As my mum pointed out, maybe he was just feeling a bit on the off side, and it's not like cats will starve to death after only two days ;)
