So I met Peter Mansbridge last night. I am in awe of that man. Such charisma, such talent, such natural grace and intelligence! And the man's a friggin high school drop out with no real broadcasting training. Not a single stumble or pause or 'um' during the entire night. He's a journalistic god!

Yup! He was the keynote speaker at the Business Appreciation Awards dinner last night. He's friggin funny!!

Yeah - Peter was working in Churchill Manitoba doing odd jobs here and there, one night was asked to read the boarding announcement at the airport, the manager from the local CBC station heard him, said 'hey buddy, you've got a great voice, want to work in radio?' and that was it. Greg (my co-host who was MCing the evening) told Peter "You have no idea how angry you've made that table over there from the radio station - we worked so hard to get into this industry!"

yeah... half of the profs I had at Concordia, it seems, just walked into a newsroom one day off the street, and never left. :p
