All is right with the world
May. 1st, 2002 05:26 amDr Claw is no more! Muahahahaha!!! I'm so very happy :)
Bit of background for those of you who actually read this and aren't up to date - Dr Claw is a guy named Reg Green who came to our beloved station about a month or so ago. He said he did the voice of Dr Claw on Inspector Gadget (the tv show), the Gingerbread man in Shrek, worked at Mix 99 in Toronto for several years back in the 80s, then moved to the States to work on various movies/commercials/cartoons by doing voice over work. He said he came to Chatham because he wanted to get back into radio in a small-ish town, settle down and have a good community to raise his family in, plus be close to an international airport (ie Detroit) so he could still go to New York and LA for his other work. At first, we had no reason to doubt him, and apparently no one bothered to check his references. Then as time went on, we realized hey, this guy sucks ass! He couldn't do a decent voice if his life depended on it. Then people started checking into his background - he gave at least 3 different excuses for why his name wasn't used in any credits of things he'd claimed to have done, management finally started checking references and either couldn't get a hold of anyone or people simply didn't know who he was. The thing that pissed me off the most was the promotions girl was told by the assistant GM that ol Dr Claw was being paid over $15 an hour (twice what most of us make) because "you have to be willing to pay a little more for that caliber of talent." What me, upset? Bitter? Naw..... But all is well now, Mr Green got the axe yesterday. Woo hoo!!
