newschickLet's see if we can avoid disaster today! Yesterday's morning show was just chok full of fun and adventure - we had the lovely 5:30 news intro - I tape my 5:30 about two hours before hand and then George tees it up and makes it sound all live and stuff. He gives his usual little intro which goes something like "Sports and weather up next, but first we head over to the CFCO Newsroom and get the latest information from Robyn Brady" then my news starts "Thanks George, and good morning..." Yesterday George had a little trouble (he's the most computer illiterate person I've ever met) and the intro sounded something like this "We'll have all the sports scores from last night plus a look at the forecast, but first......uhhh, we'll get the latest news headlines.....uhhhh......once Robyn gets all set up here.....ummmm...(clicking sounds as he tries to get the right file loaded up) well she's almost ready now....hmmm....ok, now here's Robyn with the news." Veeeery nice. Thank you so much.
Then during our 7:20 break, we were talking about how the guys from Home Hardware across the street are donating their time and supplies to fix up the Legion park gazebo that was vandalized. Nice story, but of course, Mr Negativity went on a rant about the degeneration of today's youth. "Now you know it was kids that destroyed that park, I don't know what's wrong with kids today, they're so destructive, always have to ruin everything for everyone else. Where are their parents? Why isn't anyone doing anything to teach these kids some morals, some values? You know what we need, Robyn? Vigilante justice. We need to get people out there on the streets putting a stop to these stupid kids." I said Now George, don't say that...and he interrupted me and went on again about how kids these days are just bad, bad bad! He has no idea if it was kids that ruined the park, it could have been bums, it could have been some drunken fool coming home late one night from the bar, it could have been anyone! But no, it's the kids. I swear, he'd be better off sitting on his front porch in a rocker waving a rocker at those horrible kids. Such an uplifting man!
