Stupid (non)listeners

I'm used to calls from dumb people...well, maybe 'used to' is too strong. I expect calls from dumb people. But not this dumb.

Me: CFCO/CKSY Newsroom.
Caller: Hi, I just wanted to let you know I didn't get my paper on Saturday.
(pause)
Me: Um, ok....
(pause)
Me: I'm not really sure how you want me to help you.
Caller: Well, you work at the News right?
Me: I work *in* news....I think you want to call the Chatham Daily News.
Caller: Oh....so you don't have any more Saturday papers?
Me: You need to give the newspaper a call...you've called the radio station. We're not connected in any way.
Caller: Oh.
(pause)
Me: You've got the wrong number.
Caller: Ok, thanks.

Ohdeargod. Is it something in your water supply, or are there dumb people everywhere and I've just never (thankfully) met them?

Heh, actually there is something in the water supply! There have been something like six chemical spills in the last six months from Sarnia, and it comes down river to us.

LOL! That is a classic. I had one last week that was good but doesn't match that. A lady called me to get a competitor's phone number so she could comment on their show. She couldn't understand why I A: Didn't know it. and B: Wouldn't look it up for her.

Heh, we get those all the time too! They either want the CBC's number or numbers for stations in entirely different cities.
