Feeling much better today - gotta love the mood swings, eh? Lisa's leaving wasn't nearly as sad as I thought it would be. I did get a little weepy, but not in front of anyone, and long before Lisa even came into work. I'm very proud of myself, big weenie that I am.
Got a nice confidence boost yesterday, career-wise. I sent off a tape to CFNY a week or so ago, no specific jobs, they're just updating their talent banks, and I figured what the hell. When I got home from work yesterday there was a message from the program director telling me how great he thought my tape sounded, I've got a fantastic read, and that although there's nothing open for me right now, he did say that maybe one day there would be a place for me on their team. Yay me!!!
I went for a nice walk yesterday afternoon around Mud Creek (That's what the drain's called Heathy - aptly named, don't you think?) It was pretty warm and muggy, but there was a nice breeze so it wasn't so bad. I must remember not to wear shoes with backs when taking long walks on hot days - my heels are now covered in blisters. No more shoes for me.
Not much planned for the weekend - Arlene and Rod might be coming to town tomorrow, so we'll have to find something fun to do. Who knows, maybe I'll have people over. It's cooled down quite a bit (yesterday's high - 34, today's high - 24) so maybe it wouldn't be too hot and uncomfortable with many people in my little apartment. We'll see. In the meantime, Seamus has to go to the vet today and woo boy won't that be a treat!

There's nothing I hate more than ignorant, low brow, knuckle-dragging morons. Our beloved sports guy has been absolutely glued to the tv all morning watching some golf tournament or other - I hear it's a big deal. He's freaking obsessed with golf, thinks the world should revolve around a sport in which a bunch of people whack little white balls with sticks. Woooooo...exciting. During the commercial break he started yelling at the tv (he gets so worked up about the smallest things) that there were enough ads, he wanted more golf, golf doesn't stop for commercial breaks so there shouldn't be commercial breaks. Now we all get annoyed at ads during our favourite shows, but he was about to bust a vein. So after his little 'golf doesn't stop' rant, I said, mostly jokingly, 'aw, golf should just stop altogether.' He flipped! He said "Oh yeah? OH YEAH?? Well they should burn down every fucking theatre in the world, whaddya think of that, eh?" Uh huh....excellent retort. I said that theatre and golf were just slightly different things, not really very comparable. Yes, many people like golf, good for them. Theatre has been enlightening and entertaining the masses for thousands of years. It's a vital part of society. Golf is golf. Get over it.
