This is something I'd completely forgotten about until this whole war dealie started. When we were in England in 1990, there was a gas station down the street from where we were staying called Q8. I'm sure my sister will correct me on this if I'm wrong, but I remember my mum saving the bag as a keepsake because of the rising tensions in the region and thinking there might not be a Kuwait a few years down the road.

I realize the tendency of journalists to try and make stories sound more impressive - I do it myself - but if that CNN guy (Walter somebody) traveling with the 7th Cavalry says "the giant wave of steel ever pushing northward" one more time I'm going to hurl.

The insurance appraiser guy came by today to check out the damage to poor little TicTac. He said he didn't think it was safe for me to drive because the hood was bent all funny, and may well flip up at any point, so off I went to the rental place. They didn't have any cars comparable to mine (what my insurance requires I get) so they offered me a free upgrade. I am now the proud, and quite nervous driver of a Dodge Dakota 4x4! There is no way someone as short as me was meant to drive a truck that big. The thing is freaking huge! I literally have to climb into it. Hell, the side of the truck bed part is taller than I am. It's bright red, 4 doors, and feels like a tank. While I do feel ever so powerful behind the wheel of the Beast, I am also quite worried that I may actually run someone over without even knowing they're there.
