Let the good times roll
Aug. 11th, 2003 05:03 amMy darling computer is all set up and looks so very pretty in my dining room, which has now been converted into the computer room. Yeehaw. Neither Matt nor I ever actually eat in there, so I figured hell, it's my table anyway, might as well put it to some kind of use! So I got into Chatham around 7 last night, grabbed the moving trolley, and lugged everything up to the apartment. Seamus was absolutely captivated, and spent the next hour and a half sniffing the computer.
It works wonderfully - well, as wonderfully as it can considering all I did was play Minesweeper and use Word a bit (and have since realized I make a really crappy secretary - I can't read my own writing from the last board meeting minutes, and didn't write down half of what I was supposed to) but once I get net access, and start using it more, I'll have a better idea. The keyboard is GREAT! If there's one thing I hate, it's clicky keys, and my keyboard is as close to silent as you can get. If was feeling slightly bad about not getting speakers, but who needs 'em. All I have to do is plug in my earphones and I'm set!
Had a nice, relaxing drive back yesterday after a lovely corn lunch at Heathy's. It may not actually be faster, but taking the QEW/403 up to the 401 seems to go by a lot faster than just getting on the 401 from my parents' place. It's probably that it's just a change of scenery, and by the time I get to the 401 at Woodstock, I'm already half way home.
Walter comes back today, so discussions will probably start on what to do with the ND position. I keep thinking about all the things Paul does, and how much he knows, and how many times in the course of a week someone will ask me something and I say "I don't know, ask Paul" and how I won't be able to say that anymore. But then I think he didn't always know everything. I'm sure when he first made ND, he felt as unsure as I do. But once again I'm totally jumping the gun. No point in worrying about things that may not even happen. But crap is it ever hard to just sit here and wait patiently.
