I'm all set...

Well my resume is updated, I've got a cover letter all set - who wants to hire me?? All that's left for me to do is get a decent demo tape made up. I taped a bunch of stuff on Friday, but the quality isn't the greatest. I'll try again on Monday, set up something at home, and hopefully that will go better.
Lisa quit on Friday, Josh's last day was on Friday - hell, the only person left in the newsroom that I even like is Paul! I get along with one person in five - not a great ratio, is it? Plus all the backstabbing and political wrangling around here is really starting to make me dread coming into work every morning. Angry News Girl Slays 10 in Workplace Bloodbath.
In other news, it's an absolutely gorgeous day and I'm heading to the river to read.

hey, that's great! glad to hear that you're planning to move onwards and upwards. Best of luck with finding a new position... do you wait for jobs to be advertised or target places where you'd like to work whether they're advertising or not? They do say that only something like 10 or 20% of positions are actually advertised; the rest are filled by word of mouth, networks, agencies, and approaches made directly by applicants.

I do both, actually. Plus we tend to know where openings might be just from people we know who have jobs or just left jobs - if someone just got hired somewhere, that means there's an opening somewhere else. So say I know person A left Station A to work at Station B - I can send a resume to Station A and if they've already hired someone, ask the news director where that person came from (Station C) and send a tape there. Joy. :)
And hey, tape for you is all made up - Heathy will bring it home this weekend.
