Marshie won on his first one, too. I think it's a trick to make you feel overly optimistic and buy more coffee. Of course, if you're like Marshie, coffee is the reason to buy more coffee.
Luckily you can trade a coffee for any hot beverage (or at least tea and hot chocolate) since I don't drink that much coffee anymore. But still - I'm happy to win *something*
