I've been reliving my youth this morning (causing me to almost miss my 6 o'clock cast) checking out a website [livejournal.com profile] kadenza was talking about in her journal - Yesterdayland - it's exciting!! First checking out all the old shows I used to watch (question though - why do the people from G Force have strange names?) and then looking at the old toys.
Some of my favourites - Cooties (reminds me of Grammie's house), Fashion Plates (my cousin had them and we always enjoyed switching up the fashions with the monster parts from my male cousin's set), Sea Wees, The Green Machine (I didn't have one, but I remember a friend of mine did and he always teased me that it kicked my Big Wheel's butt all over the place), Snorks (Heathy, why do I have this memory that you had one before anyone else in the world?), My Buddy (I NEVER had, nor wanted one of these, but it makes me laugh that I can still remember the whole damn song - hell, I sing it to my cat sometimes)
Ah, to be a kid again...

what the heck was the monster set called? I remember having one, and my sister having Fashion Plates, but I can't remember what it was called!!

and that website is way too tempting...

I have no idea what it was called - I've been looking for it all morning. And yeah, isn't that site horrible?? I've got absolutely nothing done this morning because of it.

As I recall, "My Buddy" didn't sell too well (I mean c'mon, it's a DOLL and you can't change that fact by renaming it...'it's not a doll, son, it's your BUDDY!') and they brought out the female counterpart, "Kid Sister" for girls. I didn't need one of course, I had the real thing to throw around ;)

I think it's Monster Maker.

Yes! Monster Maker. I was just checking on the memories page and someone mentioned it.

You know, I'm noticing something as I browse Ebay (and yes, I want both the Fashion Plates and the Monster Maker very badly now)... the Fashion Plates are all intact in the box with all pencils included, while all the Monster Makers are missing plates and the crayons are gone, and the boxes are ripped to shreds. Boys treat their toys terribly.

Yes they do. And they treat other people's toys terribly too. I'll never forgive Trevor for killing Shave Me Ken. Bastard!

Oh dear... is that what happened to him? What did he do, stomp on him and rip his head off or something? I'm very sorry for your loss. I remember his sponge-tipped razor and his marker that you drew the beard on with (and how he suddenly had brown hair... wasn't Ken supposed to be blond?)

Yeah, Ken always used to be blond, but I think they needed brown hair so the beard would show. And Trevor ripped off Ken's leg and whipped it across the backyard. It was a very painful experience for both Ken and me. *sniff*
