I gave blood yesterday - my iron's back up to a decent level, which is good news. Normally, giving blood doesn't affect me very much at all - I may feel a tad light-headed if I do too much right after, but I'm fine other than that. Yesterday's donation knocked me on my ass. Felt relatively normal after having my coffee and cookies, went home, read on the couch for a bit, felt a little dizzy but not too bad. Got up to make dinner and suddenly had to sit down in the middle of the kitchen floor for fear of either fainting of tossing my cookies. I must have been there for a good 5-10 minutes before feeling stable enough to make my way back to the couch. I ended up going to bed just before 7. When I woke up this morning, I felt better than I have in weeks. Totally awake, refreshed and ready to go. Very strange.

Got another email from Heathy today. Sounds like she and Marshie are having a blast. Some day I hope to be rich like them so I can go away on a real trip.

well, maybe you should get an agent like you were mentioning a few posts back! So you haven't been approached by one already like your acquaintance has... big deal! send in some demos to her agent or any other agents you can find, or ask her to refer you. Don't be shy--that's how it works. In exchange for a percentage (generally 10-15%), a decent agent should be able to get you lots of extra paid work doing other stuff like personal appearances, voiceovers, etc and also will renegotiate your contract with the station when the time comes for much better terms... or else find you a better job somewhere else.

Just get a reputable one. Anyone who asks YOU for money up front for "administrative costs" or "audition fees" or "critiques" isn't a real agent. Real agents only get paid after you get paid.

Well, any agent I get won't be that kind of agent. It would have nothing to do with my current job - no personal appearances, no contract negotiations (hell, I don't even have a contract). The agency Carla's with (and the kind of agency I'd be looking to be with) only handles freelance voice-over work. And now that Carla's got a contract with the Vox people, I've got her working on getting in a few good words for me, plus I'm already working on getting a demo together for them.
