The move is (almost) done. All my furniture is now comfortably set up in my new place and it looks so cozy! My bedroom is just about completely done, aside from putting some books in the bookcase and a few clothes in the dresser. My sister's wedding picture is proudly displayed on the mantle in the living room (I'm so excited to have a mantle!) I don't know how Kevin managed to live in that bedroom - the walls are a pale blue, sort of robin's egg blue, with little gold moons and stars painted all around - it's very girly and PERFECT for me - the blue just about exactly matches the blue in my duvet cover. It's so pretty!
I was amazed at how easy the move was. Greg came by with his dad's truck and a trailer, and we managed to get everything over in one trip. I put my old dresser out by the curb for garbage day tomorrow, but an hour later, it was gone. Some lucky bastard now has my old broken dresser. Good for them!
One downfall of my room is there's only one power outlet, and no phone jack. I've got the cordless phone out in the living room, so I can bring the phone into my room at night. After several trips to Canadian Tire, I had enough extension cords to make everything work. The Bell ExpresVu guy is coming by this morning to set up our satellite package - yeehaw!
There are still several boxes of crap left in my old place, but it shouldn't take me too long to bring those over, and then I'm all set. It's very exciting now that the hardest part is done :) I'm dying to have company!

The best part of any move is the "oh thank god it is over" part. The color sounds rather nice to this manly man who also happens to have those glow in the dark stars on his ceiling. Glad to hear that your new nest is coming together.

There is a whole sub-culture that lives off of curbside furniture. It is not exactly shabby chic, but it does shabby pretty well.

Yeah, there was a definite 'thank god' moment - looking around realizing the hard part was over, I was really getting settled in, and also noticing that already it *felt* like home.

How did you sleep, your first night in the new place?

Not very well at all, actually. I was tired as hell - I can't remember the last time I felt that exhausted, but I kept waking up. Took me a long time to fall asleep in the first place, too. It's strange - my bed felt more comfortable than it has in a long time (not sure why exactly) I was sooo tired, but still couldn't sleep.

I bet your futon was more comfortable because it got fluffed up during the move! You should do that more often.

Move? or fluff it? I flip it over every time I change my sheets (which I do more often that you probably think :P)

We guys are typically completely unaware of the colour of our surroundings. :)

Hell, some guys are completely unaware of *anything* in their surroundings!

Thanks! I'm loving it so far. Matt is rarely ever home, so it feels like I've still got my own place.
